The Cold Brew coffee is rapidly becoming the drink of choice amongst many younger coffee aficionados because it doesn’t have the signature bitter taste that most hot brew coffee does. Do you know why?
The process of making Cold Brew requires the grounds to be steeped in cold water for 12 to 24 hours. This way, the brew doesn’t produce that signature “roast” or bitter flavour- a common result when the beans are heat-treated. Due to the production process, it contains A LOT more caffeine than a regular cup of hot coffee! Cold Brew drinkers may dilute the caffeine concentration with milk, cream or water- but for us, we like to leave that choice to you and keep it pure with no other additions.
Let's explore some of the benefits of adding cold brew into your diet:
Increased metabolism
Caffeine has been reported to help boost your metabolism by up to 11%. Considering that the cold brew has significantly more caffeine than a hot cup of coffee, this drink would definitely improve our body’s fat-burning capabilities
May lower the risk of heart disease
Cold brew has been known to have properties that help increase insulin sensitivity, stabilise blood sugar and lowers blood pressure. When we talk about insulin sensitivity, conditions such as diabetes would come in mind. By adding caffeine into your daily diet, it has been reported to help decrease the risk of Type 2 diabetes due to the powerful antioxidants present.
Reduces risk of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
Aside from increasing your mood intensively (you can take it from me!), compounds found in coffee are known to reduce the risk of neurodegenerative conditions. This shows that caffeine also slows down the death of brain cells that lead to mental disabilities.
While I've covered some of the more significant benefits that caffeine can bring, it's also good to note that the Cold Brew is a better choice for sensitive stomachs as it tends to be smoother and less acidic.
With countless health benefits, it is no wonder this humble drink is gaining a ton of popularity in the recent years. If you’ve yet to discover the world of Cold Brew, I encourage to give it a try.
